Early October marks the beginning of the olive harvest. The Nouveau 1/10 uses olives picked “first” while still green. Generally, producing 1 liter of olive oil requires 4 kg of olives. Oro del Desierto’s regular oil uses 8 kg, and the Nouveau uses 10 kg.

Due to the first picking in October and using 10 kg of olives per liter, the official name is 1/10 (One-Ten). This is the highest quality and freshest olive oil, recommended for dressings, dipping bread, and increasingly for sashimi. It is best used without heating.

In Spain, it is customary to send Nouveau 1/10 first harvest olive oil to important people or bring it as a gift to special events.
